Blaming Elsa Story

This story was a unique challenge because the main character is a dog who cannot speak. Elsa, the Golden Retriever, is blamed for things she didn’t do. As an illustrator, I had to rely entirely on body language to tell her side of the story.

There is a crucial scene where the children, Kriti and Bittu, hide to catch the real culprit. Composition was key here. I framed the shot from behind the door. This puts the reader right there with the children, peeking into the room. It creates a sense of mystery and suspense.

When we find out the house help, Manju, is the one cutting the clothes, I needed her posture to look sneaky. I used slightly sharper lines for her movements compared to the soft, rounded lines I used for the innocent Elsa. It is a subtle visual trick to show who the “bad guy” is before the text even confirms it.
