Will it be a Fair Game?
This is an inspiring story about Shraddha, a girl who is rejected from the basketball team because of her height. Illustrating sports requires a focus on anatomy and movement.

Visualizing the Height Difference The script emphasizes that Shraddha is shorter than the other players. In the lineup scene, I deliberately exaggerated the height of the coach and the other kids to make Shraddha look even smaller. This makes her determination stand out more. When she finally plays, her small size becomes an asset, showing her speed and agility.

Drawing the Action Basketball is a fast game. In the scene where Shraddha plays against the captain, Ramya, I avoided static poses. I drew Shraddha mid-dribble, with her hair flying back and her body leaning forward. Using “action lines” around the ball and her hands helps convey the speed of the game to the reader.

The Emotion of Rejection The scene where Shraddha goes home and covers her basketball posters is very emotional. I colored this scene with muted tones to match her sadness. It contrasts sharply with the bright, energetic greens and blues of the basketball court scenes.
