Illustrating Characters of Happy-chand and Sad-chand
This story is a great study in character design. We have two main characters who are exact opposites. Sad Chand worries about everything, while Happy Ram finds the positive in every situation.
Facial Features and Posture For Sad Chand, I used downward strokes. His eyebrows tilt up in worry, his shoulders slump, and even his mouth has a slight droop. It makes him look like he is carrying the weight of the world. For Happy Ram, everything is lifted. His eyes are wide, his chest is out, and his smile pushes his cheeks up.

The “Cow Attack” Scene There is a funny but chaotic scene where a cow chases Sad Chand. I wanted to capture the panic without making it too scary for kids. I added motion blur lines to Sad Chand’s running legs to show speed. Even though his vegetables are crushed, the bright colors of the scattered veggies keep the scene lively rather than depressing.

Color Choices I used color to reflect their personalities. Sad Chand often wears slightly duller or cooler tones in my initial concepts, while Happy Ram is surrounded by warmer, brighter energy. It helps the reader instantly know who to look at for a positive reaction.
